When tape ins are the right call
Tape in extensions are thin wefts that sit very flat against the head, which makes them a strong option for finer hair. They go in faster than a full row install and need moving up every six to eight weeks. Color is matched in person, so they always start with a consultation at the studio in Long Branch.
Tape in extensions are thin wefts applied either side of a small section of your own hair. They sit flatter than any other method we offer, which is exactly why they suit finer hair: there is simply less to conceal. They also go in faster than a full row install, so the appointment is shorter.
They are not the answer for everyone. If you are after serious density, or you have a lot of your own hair to carry, invisible bead rows hold more weight and last better. Part of the consultation is us telling you which of the two is honestly right, including when that answer costs less.
The appointment
Consultation first, where we look at your density and match color in person. The hair is ordered for you, so a deposit is taken then rather than on the day.
Install is quicker than a row install. The wefts go in, then everything is cut and blended into your own hair. Blending is the whole game: tape ins that are not cut in properly are why some people think extensions always look obvious.
Move ups every six to eight weeks. As your hair grows the bonds travel down and need resetting, and leaving them too long is what causes trouble.
Care
Sulfate free shampoo, conditioner kept away from the bonds, and a proper extension brush used from the ends upward. Dry the roots properly and do not sleep on wet tape.
Oil based products near the bond will loosen it. If you are unsure whether something you own is oil based, bring it in and we will tell you.

Questions we actually get asked
How are tape ins different from IBE?
Tape ins are thin wefts taped either side of a small section of your own hair, sitting very flat. IBE uses a beaded track with nothing adhesive touching your hair. Tape ins are quicker to put in and sit flatter, which suits finer hair. IBE holds more weight and is usually the better call for real density.
How long do they stay in?
Usually six to eight weeks before they need moving up, same rhythm as any extension. As your hair grows the tape moves down and needs resetting.
Are they good for fine hair?
Often yes, and that is their strength. They sit flatter than almost anything else, so there is less to hide when your own hair is fine. Whether they are right for you depends on your density, which we assess in person.
Can I use heat on them?
Yes, with sense. Keep heat away from the tape itself and use a heat protectant. The bond is the vulnerable part, not the hair.
Do I need a consultation?
Yes. Color is matched in person and the hair is ordered for you, so this is never booked sight unseen.
